Why We Built This Site
Alabama provides several official ways to reach public records, but each channel answers a distinct question. A sheriff record can document an incident or local custody. The St. Clair County Circuit Clerk keeps filed charges, court action, disposition, and certified court copies. ALEA maintains the fingerprint-linked Alabama repository and offers personal history review, while its Alabama Background Check System is limited to qualifying subscribers. The Alabama Department of Corrections covers state custody, and the Alabama Sex Offender Registry publishes the information allowed under Chapter 20A. This resource brings together verified contacts, request steps, fees, and official search links without blending those separate products.
What You Will Find Here
- Agency contacts: the St. Clair County sheriff, both Circuit Clerk counters, and the relevant Alabama systems
- Official check steps: how ALEA's fingerprint-supported personal criminal-history review works
- Record guides: how St. Clair County criminal court cases are found and read
- Record relief basics: where Alabama expungement begins and which official forms support the process
What We Cannot Do
This is a privately run reference site. It has no connection to an Alabama court, police department, sheriff's office, or state agency. Those limits shape what it can provide:
- We cannot issue a certified court record, rap sheet, or agency document
- We cannot submit an expungement petition, public-records request, or other filing
- We cannot perform an official background check or obtain a record for a visitor
- We cannot offer legal advice about a charge, sentence, or specific case
- We cannot promise that an agency fee, address, or phone number has not changed
Only the office that holds the source record, such as the Circuit Clerk, sheriff, or ALEA, can provide its official copy.
Search Partners
Search boxes on some pages are supplied by third-party providers. Each provider controls its service, prices, and returned results. A paid signup reached through one of those tools may produce a referral fee that supports free public access to this resource. We do not set the provider's charges, create its reports, or control what its service returns.
